Boxing: Hot Cook halts Nas.

WELSHMAN Jason Cook retained his European lightweight title in front of his home town fans in Maesteg last night by seeing off Frenchman rival Nasser Lakrib.

The 27-year-old former postman was rarely troubled as he scored his 19th professional win over an opponent one year his senior.

The end came 40 seconds into the fifth round when Lakrib - who had been saved by the bell at the end of the previous round - was hit by a barrage of punishing Cook blows and the fight was stopped.
