Boxer jailed for cancer victim attack.

A FORMER boxer has been jailed for a vicious attack on an elderly leukaemia sufferer.

Adam Baldwin, from Bedworth, Warwickshire, burst into Golden Food and Wine in Nuneaton last July and began acting aggressively.

Rajni Patel, 64, was working at the store, and went to check on the 35-year-old when he lost sight of him.

Baldwin headbutted the cancer sufferer, who weighs just eight stone, before landing seven or eight punches.

When fellow shop worker Mohan Ramesh tried to intervene light welterweight Baldwin started raining punches down on him.

Despite his frailty, Mr Patel grabbed a rounders bat and hit Baldwin over the head before fleeing the shop. Jailing him for three-and-a-half years at Warwick Crown Court on Friday Judge Robert Orme told Baldwin: "You are a very powerful man.

"You do not hesitate, when you're in the mood, to get involved in physical violence. "The time has come when you are going to have to go to custody for as long as I can order."
