Bowls: Open and shut case for Andy.

SCOT Andy Thomson picked up the Scottish International Open title with a straight sets win in Perth.

Up against Englishman and 13th seed Mark Royal, Thomson took his first WBT Ranking title 11-5, 8-3.

The St Andrew's born 52-year-old is the oldest on the ranking list while his opponent is the youngest at 32.

But on this occasion age wasn't a barrier as Thomson rose to the challenge.

Delighted Thommo said: "I couldn't have played better.

"I had the perfect start but Mark upped his game in the second set.

"I played two key last delivery bowls on the fourth and 10th ends with three shots against me both times and that won it for me.

"I played steady drawing bowls throughout the final and there was only one bowl in the whole match that had any weight on it."
