Boulding playing for free at Oakwell; Ninian files Bluebirds diary with Terry Phillips.
FORMER Cardiff City striker Michael Boulding is playing for nothing at Barnsley these days - in the hope of earning a long-term contract.
But Manchester -born Boulding, pictured, a highly-rated tennis player as a junior when he trained with Tim Henman, is likely to miss out when Barnsley face Cardiff City at Oakwell today.
"I'll play for nothing to prove myself," said Boulding when he rang Barnsley boss Mark Robins.
Boulding made four substitute appearances for Cardiff in 2004-05 under Lennie Lawrence.
He has been a regular in Barnsley's reserve team this season, while he has been in the match-day Championship squad twice. Each time he stayed on the subs bench.
Boulding, now 34, has played for Mansfield Town, Grimsby , Bradford City, Sheffield United, Aston Villa and Rotherham.
