Botswana : Governor Mohohlo Appointed Member Of The Bretton Woods Committee.

The Governor of the Bank of Botswana, Mrs Linah Mohohlo, is now a member of the Bretton Woods Committee, having accepted the invitation

last month from the Chairman of the International Council, Mr Richard Debs, as endorsed by the co-Chairmen, the former President of the World Bank, Mr James Wolfensohn, and Mr Bill Frenzel. Membership of the Committee is by invitation only and now totals approximately 150 worldwide.

The Bretton Woods Committee is the nonpartisan network of prominent global citizens, which works to demonstrate the value of international economic cooperation, to foster strong and effective international financial institutions (IFIs) as forces for global well-being, as well as to advance worldwide financial stability.

The Committee was founded in 1983 as an independent body which advises the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund and other Bretton Woods institutions such as the World Trade Organisation and regional financial institutions, with particular focus on multilateral approaches and solutions to global economic challenges.

The Committee s past leaders include the late US President Gerald Ford and the former Chairman (Governor) of the US Federal Reserve Bank, Mr
