Boston Beer Co. brews Wheat Beer

The Boston Beer Co. has announced the addition of a classic wheat beer to its roster of beers. According to brewery president Jim Koch, consumers can find Samuel Adams Wheat Beer beginning in July.

Koch reported that "the wheat malt used in [the beer's] brewing gives Samuel Adams Wheat a lighter color and a crisp, refreshing taste, perfect for its summer production."

"Samuel Adams Wheat Beer comes from a special top-fermenting yeast strain from the Weihenstephan, the oldest brewery in the world, and a blend wheat of and barley malts," Koch continued. "Only noble hops - Hallertau Mittelfrueh, Tettnang and Saaz - are used. Two weeks of cold-lagering ensures a clean, subtle taste."

This wheat beer has been brewed in a single this year for summertime enjoyment, Koch concluded.
