Boss Cowley reveals why he switched.
DANNY Cowley has shed some light on why he and Nicky Cowley made a U-turn in joining Town from Lincoln City.
The Cowley brothers were announced as manager and assistant by the club on Monday, and speaking to the press for the first time yesterday morning revealed why the pair switched Lincolnshire for Yorkshire.
Town's original attempt to bring Danny and Nicky to Huddersfield saw the club offer Danny the role of head coach, as opposed to manager - and it was a change to the latter title that helped convince Cowley to finally accept Town's offer.
That means that instead of being focused purely on training and leading the team on matchdays, the Cowleys will have involvement in a wider array of duties at the club.
Cowley said: "I think that that was the big change [between the first and second approach]. We spoke with Dave [Webb], and to Phil [Hodgkinson], and for us it has got to be a long-term project.
"Just winning on a Saturday is not enough for me, but I know it will be for some Huddersfield Town supporters at this current moment.
"It's winning on winning. We know what football management is - it's a crazy industry. You have to win to give yourself time, that's how it works.
"But winning gives you time to affect, develop and create something. We want to achieve sustainable success and we're absolutely clear on the vision for Huddersfield Town.
"I'm totally aware of where it's at and I know where I want to go; for us it's going to be a gradual process."
