Boom goes bang in Red Mills semis.
BOYLESPORTS BOOM, purchased by Paul Hennessy for Irish Derby sponsor John Boyle, maintained his winning sequence for his new connections when producing the fastest time in the semi-finals of the Red Mills Easter Unraced Stake at Enniscorthy on Monday, writes Michael Fortune.
The son of Crash and Southest Suzie was led to the third bend by fast-starting Coolside Walker but then stormed past and won by four and a half lengths in 29.25sec. Milford Station ran on strongly to take second by three-parts of a length from Coolside Walker.
Right from the start of the competition Henry Kelly's Karlow Eddie has been noted finished very strongly. The younger halfbrother to last year's English Derby winner Astute Missile finally came good when an easy winner of the second semi-final in 29.39sec.
From a level start Karlow Eddie turned second behind Miltown Ridge but raced to the front at halfway and won by three and a half lengths from reserve Blackhill Rock. Odds-on favourite Ninja Burgess was a short-head third.
