Following a record 94,000 visitors last year, the 2016 festival of free screenings will run from July 12-21, just after the European Championships have ended.

Brindleyplace marketing executive Alex Perrins said: "The Brindleyplace Film Festival has become one of our most popular and most anticipated events, and come rain or shine it always attracts a crowd - what could be more British than watching a movie alfresco? "With that in mind, this year we'll be celebrating the best of British film, with more than 50 classic titles making the shortlist, including a selection of BAFTA winners.

"Putting the film choices into the hands of the public means there's something for everyone.
