Boldly going for Star Trek memorabilia.

STAR Trek mania has hit Birmingham - with scores of fans eager to get their hands on Spock's famous pointy ears.

The blockbuster space saga, which follows the adventures of Kirk, Spock and the Starship Enterprise was released last week and is already a box office smash..

And the merchandise is flying off the shelves, according to Birmingham's leading cult movie memorabilia store Nostalgia and Comics.

Spock, an alien from the planet Vulcan who leads an emotion free life based on logic, has been a firm favourite with dedicated fans since 1966..

And still top of their wish list is a set of the Vulcan's trademark ears.

Shop assistant Dave Riathby said: "Star Trek is hot at the moment.

We have had hundreds of telephone calls and people coming in for Spock ears and we don't have any left. We have also sold out of T-shirts."
