Bogus callers alert.

CONMEN posing as water board officials are targeting pensioners in the Black Country and Birmingham.

Homes in Great Barr, Handsworth and West Bromwich have been targeted by the crooks in the past week.

An 89-year-old pensioner in West Bromwich became the latest victim when a man saying he was from the water board knocked on his door.

The conman had an Irish accent and was in his early 20s. Police said he was inside the property for around 10 minutes and stole pounds 70 from the OAP's wallet.

Anyone with any information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 0845 113 5000.
