The Boeing Company (NYSE: BA) has revealed that it is to donate USD10m to support science education for youth in the Chicago area.

The company said that the contribution is to be split equally between Chicago's Adler Planetarium and the Museum of Science and Industry.

The investment was announced as part of Science in the City, a series of city-wide events that invite residents to experience various fields of science. Boeing is among the sponsors of the events.

At the Museum of Science and Industry Boeing's donation will aid the creation of an exhibition, scheduled to open in 2011, that will invite museum guests to experience events in historical and present-day exploration.

The donation to the Adler will reportedly help fund the development of new exhibitions geared to young visitors and families as well as an endowment to support science and maths education initiatives at the planetarium.
