Boardroom shake-up for city pub firm.

THE chairman of pub group Mitchells & Butlers has stepped down after just a few months in the post.

Simon Burke is leaving his position as non-executive chairman and director, and another non-executive director Michael Balfour has also decided to step down from the group, which went through a major boardroom battle last year.

The announcements see the company, based on Fleet Street in Birmingham, lose its third chairman in 18 months.

Mr Burke joined M&B in February this year, replacing John Lovering after he stepped down as chairman. It said it had appointed Bob Ivell as interim non-executive chairman and Ron Robson as non-executive deputy chairman.

M&B said: "Bob has extensive board experience in food and beverage companies with a particular focus on food-led, managed restaurants and pubs."
