Board report: our five favorite charcuterie selections.

Artful compositions of cheeses, cured meats, pickled vegetables and breads served on wooden boards are showing up at local restaurants. Here are some standouts.

The Salumi e Formaggi board at CARAGIULO'S is arranged with prosciutto de parma, soppesata and pistachio-studded mortadella cured meats, Parmesan, Gorgonzola and fresh mozzarella cheese. Apricot jam and house-made pickles add color and texture along with peppers, olives and pickled carrots. House-made focaccia completes this first-rate board of Italian morsels. $16.50. 69 S. The charcuterie board at POMONA is like one you'd find in an upscale restaurant in France. On the plank are dry-cured Lyon sausage, Merguez sausage, bacon-wrapped chicken thigh, duck confit rillette, chicken liver pate and pork belly with gribiche, a mayonnaise-style cold egg sauce. For snap there's mustard, house-pickled vegetables and a crusty baguette. $30; enough for two as an appetizer. 481 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota, (941) 706-1677.

At THE TABLE CREEKSIDE, a variety of charcuterie boards are a Happy Hour feature in the bar. The selections for a build-your-own include Serrano ham, Barcelona smoked ham, chorizo, dry-aged sausage, pork loin sausage, Spanish drunken cheese, smoked Manchego and creamy Calbraies bleu. Toasted slices of baguette, too. $5 per item. 5365 S. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, (941) 921-9465.

Ingredients rotate on the big, beautiful board at SOCIAL EATERY ft BAR, but usually include two kinds of salami, ham, capacolla and mortadella along with Brie, Parmesan, fontina and Gorgonzola cheeses. Jazzing up the board are caper berries, fig jam, olives and flatbread. $20 and enough to share. 1219 First St., Sarasota. (941) 444-7072.

The Antipasto Misto at PINO'S has three kinds of cured meat, chunks of salty Parmesan, grilled zucchini and roasted red peppers, olives, crunchy bruschetta, fresh and creamy mozzarella layered between tomato slices and artichokes, all drizzled with olive oil. $13 for one; add $10 for each additional person. 3800 S.
