BoC hands over first of ,e1/41m books' donation.

THE Bank of Cyprus has donated books worth e1/4375,000 to primary and secondary schools, part of a e1/41m donation which is carried out in four phases.

On Thursday, the bank's cultural foundation formally handed over the books to Education minister Costas Kadis. More than 10,500 books have already been delivered to the warehouse of the education ministry in September.

"These publications are characterised by their high quality beyond their monetary value," Kadis said at the handover.

Subjects of the publications include archaeology, history, economics, cartography, the environment, Cypriot art and literature, and literature for children.

According to a press release, the aim of the cultural foundation is that these books are placed in the libraries of schools as a useful tool for students and teachers and also to complement the curriculum.

The publications will be given to all schools, with 40 handed to each primary school and 25 to each secondary school.
