Blues eye Capital gain.

EVERTON fans will be forgiven for reaching for their Oasis albums and affecting a Mancunian drawl for a few hours this afternoon.

Victory for Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final would free up a European qualification berth in the Premier League.

At present, only fifth place is enough for a Europa League spot.

But if City, who are certain to qualify for the Champions League, beat Sunderland at Wembley today, sixth place will then become available.

Of course, the FA Cup remains a route to Europe for the Blues.

But the more roads that lead there, the better.
