Bluegrass theme for animal sanctuary festival.

HOLD Your Horses, its Shy Lowen's Charity Hillbilly Hoedown this Sunday.

The theme is Rockabilly, Bluegrass, Country and Cajun for the sixth annual fundraising festival at Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary.

It's a Hillbilly Hoedown for our four legged friends organised by Liverpool artist and La's cofounder Mike Badger.

Mike says: "I'm amazed at the number of wonderful performers who give their free time to help raise money for the Shy Lowen Horse and Pony Sanctuary; this is a brilliant charity which takes mistreated and abandoned horse and gives them a caring home in which they heal and thrive. Shy Lowen is a place where many people come to spend time with these graceful and magnificent animals. We are asking for a minimum donation of PS2 entry, with all the money going straight to the horses."

This year the festival is guaranteed to be too hot to trot, with the Louisiana Cajun Sound of Bayou Noir, The Old Timey Loose Moose String Band, and Merseyside's finest, honky tonkers The Nudie Suits.

Mike adds: "It's going to be another wonderful day with music, pony rides, stalls and refreshments. So whether you're a Hillbilly or a Rockabilly Filly, saddle up to the Hoedown, at Buckley Hill Lane, Thornton, L29 1YP, (opposite the old fire station), and don't forget your carrots."

The fundraiser runs from 2pm to 8pm this Sunday, July 5. Find out more at http://www.shylowen.com/index.htm or http:// www.mikebadger.co.uk/wordpress/mike-badger-the-shadytrio/
