BlueArc Names Gianluca Rattazzi President and CEO.

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 3, 2002

BlueArc Corporation, provider of the world's highest performance and most scalable enterprise-class network attached storage (NAS) systems, today announced that Gianluca Rattazzi has been appointed president and chief executive officer (CEO). Rattazzi will continue as chairman of the board, a role he has held since February 2000. He replaces former president and CEO Enrico Pesatori, now vice chairman of the board.

Prior to joining BlueArc, Rattazzi was president and CEO of Meridian Data, a pioneer and leader in network attached storage. Previously, he co-founded P-COM, a telecommunications equipment company, and Parallan Computers, an enterprise-class server company, where he served as president and CEO. Rattazzi successfully led initial public offerings for Meridian Data and Parallan Computers as well as Meridian's subsequent acquisition by Quantum Corporation. Earlier in his career, Rattazzi was president of Virtual Microsystems and held executive positions with Validec and Olivetti. He earned an MSEE and an MSCS from the University of California, Berkeley and a Doctorate in physics from the University of Rome, Italy.
