Bloodstock briefing: Future is bright for Time Ahead.

Byline: Janet Hickman

IF THERE were a prize for best maiden winner of the week, Time Ahead, successful in the NGK Spark Plugs Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket last Saturday, could claim it.

The three-year-old is owned and bred by Robert Barnett, which gives a clue about her background. She is by Spectrum out of the Polish Precedent mare Not Before Time, and is thus a half-sister to 2001 Group 3 Musidora Stakes winner Time Away.

Not Before Time is out of outstanding racemare Time Charter, whose other foals include Zinaad - sire of Kazzia - and the ill-fated Time Allowed (by Sadler's Wells), both winners of the Group 2 Jockey Club Stakes.

Time Charter's final foal is Time Allowed's three-year-old full-sister Time Honoured, who won a Leicester maiden last year.

nTHERE were stakes wins last week for the broodmare full-sisters Jude and Alouette, courtesy of Irish 1,000 Guineas winner Yesterday (Sadler's Wells) and Listed Pinnacle Stakes winner Albanova (Alzao).
