Blizzard snowed under by Middleboro.

MIDDLEBORO - The defending Eastern Football League (EFL) champion Middleboro Cobras scored a pair of defensive touchdowns and broke open a tight game with 26 second-quarter points in defeating the Clinton Irish Blizzard, 48-0, last Saturday night in Middleboro.

With the win, Middleboro improves to 5-0 in the EFL, while Clinton falls to 2-3 on the season.

For Clinton, quarterback John Riccio completed 11 of 20 passes for 116 yards in the loss. Felix Borukhov led all receivers with five catches for 77 yards. Chris Nieves led all rushers with eight carries for 53 yards.

Defensive back Eric Arsenault paced the defense with a forced fumble, two tackles for loss and a pair of pass breakups. Defensive lineman Mike Dale added a fumble recovery and a sack. Brian Publicover had a pass deflection and three tackles.

After four of five road games to open the season, the Clinton Irish Blizzard return home on Saturday to face the Granite State Knights.

Granite State enters the game with a 3-2 record.

Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Fuller Field.

News and notes

Clinton recorded a pair of victories over Granite State last year, a 32-6 road win in week two and a 34-14 home win in week five of the 2011 season.

Felix Borukhov's five catches last week gives him a team leading 24 catches through five games this season

John Riccio recently surpassed 100 career passing touchdowns for the Irish Blizzard.

After opening with four road games in their first five contests, Clinton will play four of their final five regular season games at home.

Clinton is 1-0 at home this season.

The Irish Blizzard won their home opener, 36-0, against Metro West in week three.
