Blind woman is touching world.

A NEW book which follows the adventures of a blind woman, who became the first person to cycle around the world, is scheduled for release this September.

Entitled 'Touching the world', the book is by Cathy Birchall and her partner, Bernard Smith, who over a year travelled through 31 countries in five continents, covering 25,000 miles, on an 18-year-old BMW R100.

Their journey covered difficult boarder crossings and numerous mechanical breakdowns, climbing Wayna Picchu mountain in Peru, visiting the Centre for Blind Women in Delhi and riding an elephant.

Ms Birchall, who works for Action for Blind People, lost her sight in her mid-20s.
