Blaze OAP is killed in hospital.

A PENSIONER died after setting himself on fire in a hospital ward on Christmas Day.

The man, 72, was being treated at Argyll and Bute Hospital in Lochgilphead, which deals chiefly with psychiatric patients.

Firefighters from Lochgilphead and Tarbert community fire stations were called out after the man was found with his clothes on fire.

He was transferred to Mid Argyll Community Hospital before being pronounced dead yesterday morning.

Police were last night investigating the cause of the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Al lan Flood, his partner Ann Wallace and granddaughter Raegan, seven, yesterday escaped from their burning house in Drumlanrig Drive, Dundee.

The couple think the fire was started by an immersion heater.
