Blanket checks on offer.

AGE Concern is offering free testing for pensioners' electric blankets on Monday.

The organisation is warning faulty blankets cause more than 5,000 house fires in the UK each year, with people aged over 65 most at risk.

Age Concern has teamed up with E.ON, the company that runs Powergen, to offer free electric blanket testing to OAPs

Electric blankets should be checked by a qualified technician every three years for signs of wear.

The testing day takes place at Warwick Road Church Centre, Coventry city centre. To book call 0845 676 0031.
