Blair expected to commit to full term tomorrow.

AS the chorus calling for Prime Minister Tony Blair to step down continues to grow, the number of weeks before he loses his job was trading at 60-65 on Spreadfair yesterday, writes Adrian Humphries. Labour backbenchers ignored appeals from Cabinet ministers to rally around the PM and issued new calls for him to quit Downing Street sooner rather than later. Blair's position has been called into question by several MPs following last Thursday's general election, when Labour won an historic third successive term in power but saw its majority cut from 161 to a projected 66.

Blair will seek to shore up his position tomorrow when, in an appearance before the Parliamentary Labour Party at Westminster, he is expected to underline his commitment to serving a full third term.
