Blair `is surrendering'.
THE Prime Minister is in the process of ``serial surrendering'' over the proposed new European constitutional con vention, the shadow foreign secretary, Michael Ancram, claimed today.Mr Ancram said that a Conserv ative government would veto these proposals which, he claimed, represented a movement ``from a Europe of nations to a superstate.
Intervie wed by the ePolitix website, Mr Ancram warned that the con vent ion would create a legal personality, which was the prerequisite of a state, set up a full-blown constitution, and take control of foreign policy, defence policy and home policy inc luding asylum.
``All of these are crucial areas which define a sovereign nation and the moment they are taken away sovereignty is go ne.''
Mr Ancram said he was looking for an outcome that retained the structure of a Europe of nations ``or we will veto it''.
