Blag it like Beckham; mirror.co.uk SATURDAY 07.09.2019 DAILY MIRROR 21 DM1ST features@mirror.co.uk Frank and fearless... (and funny) BRIAN READE r.

David Beckham won the Editor's Special Award at GQ's Men of the Year beanfeast, which I'm guessing honours the fact that he's the master of appearing to be doing a very important job when he no longer has one.

He said he was proud to win it as it "shows how far I've come". Which translates as "I should have a bleedin' knighthood now but screwed that up with crying about not getting one, so any old gong will do".

Rory Stewart won the glossy magazine's award for Politician of The Year, which I guess proves beyond all doubt that politics is indeed showbiz for beauty challenged people.
