by Geraint G Howells, J Robert Bradgate and S Margaret Griffiths. 132 pages with index. (UK: Blackstone Press Ltd)

The new Food Safety Act reached our Statute Book back in the summer and the first parts of it come into force at the beginning of next year. Most parts of the food industry will be affected so it as well to be informed.

The aim of this guide is to provide a clear description of the Act and the new legislation involved. Whilst the full text of the Act is published and covers 56 pages, the important part of this soft covered book is the explanations that are given. They are shorn of all the usual legal jargon so that the reader can readily understand the concept and responsibilities involved.

The text is concisely written and the descriptive chapters carry titles: Introduction; The scope of the Act; Food safety; Consumer protection; Regulations; Defences; Enforcement; and Legal process.

All those in the food industry are involved so if you haven't totally understood what is involved as far as you are concerned, why not get a copy of this text for yourself?
