Global Banking News - 19 January 2018

According to BlackRock research, global institutional investors will significantly enhance allocations to alternatives and real assets because of continuing low interest rates and high valuations for risk assets.

The firm's 2018 Global Institutional Rebalancing Survey charted asset allocation trends across 224 institutional clients collectively representing USD7tn in assets that could be invested. Respondents of the survey expressed an intent to increase exposure to hedge funds (5 percent), private equity (33 percent), real estate (32 percent) and real assets (55 percent).

Institutional investors, on the other hand, are expected to reduce allocations to equities (down 14 percent), fixed income (down 1 percent) and cash (down 9 percent).
