Black Country News: Car dealers warned; STREETLY.

CAR dealers are being warned they will be prosecuted if they are caught selling "clocked" motors.

Walsall Council issued the warning after a Streetly car trader was fined pounds 1,000 for selling a clocked car.

Jagtar Singh Lalli, of Blue Cedar Drive, admitted applying a false trade description to a car by changing the mileometer reading from 232,000 miles to 90,000.

He also admitted supplying the car with a false trade description at Walsall Magistrates' Court.

Magistrates fined Lalli pounds 1,000, ordered him to pay pounds 800 towards the council's costs and pounds 695 compensation to the man who bought the Renault Laguna.

After the hearing, the council's environment boss, Coun Rachel Walker, said: "This case should be taken as a warning to other car traders."
