Birmingham Post comment: Sign of the times.

The loss of historic buildings in Birmingham over many years has been such that those in authority ought to re-double their efforts to protect the heritage that remains.

Can it be right that the former Barclays Bank in Broad Street, a Grade ll* listed building, should be adorned with gaudy PVC banners advertising burgers and kebabs? There are plenty of examples of architecturally important buildings similarly plastered with inappropriate hoardings.

Not for the first time the Birmingham Civic Society, tireless champions of the conservation lobby, has raised these issues publicly and demanded action. Is anyone at the city council listening
