Birmingham Post Comment: Reader's letter.

Dear Editor, - Sickies in the public sector have always been seen as part of the job.

Public servants believe that such perks along with index-linked pensions is their right, after all it's cash that doesn't have to be earned.

There is no piece work, or real disciplinary procedure and, as long as you don't make waves, your job is virtually guaranteed for life. No one is going to sort it out because the management grades are the worst performers and it is their lead that is followed by subordinates.
