Birmingham Post Comment: Adventure trail.

If you are going to buck the trend, you might as well do it in style.

At a time when teachers are refusing to go on school trips because of a perceived compensation culture, West Nottinghamshire College have more than made their point by dragging their charges to the South Pole.

Perhaps this will see schools setting off to more adventurous climes.

Instead of the obligatory skiing trip, maybe kids will be packed off for a half term break on the north face of the Eiger.

Forget French exchanges, pupils will soon be spending a week with a tribe of pygmies.

The college is, of course, to be congratulated for offering young people the experience of a lifetime.

If it just happens to cock a snook at the legions of ambulance-chasing lawyers who perpetuate the compensation culture for their own benefit, well what can be wrong with that?
