Biodegradable sheet for food packaging.

Reynolds Packaging KAMA, the sheet extrusion division of Reynolds Food Packaging, Hazleton, Pa., will produce thermoformable sheet made of Cereptast Inc.'s starch-based biodegradable resins. The rollstock, targeted for food service packaging and other uses, will be available to select converters followed by a roll-out to major brand clients.

The sheet meets ASTM D6400 compostability standards and is designed to biodegrade quickly without leaving any plastic residue in commercial and municipal composts. Cereptasr resins incorporate starch and other biodegradable components, including polylactic acid (PLA).
