Caption: Billund's new passenger terminal was officially opened on May 30 in the presence of HRH Princess Benedikte of Denmark, who broke the ground on the project in 1999. Operations moved from the old terminal overnight on May 28--the first departure, a Maersk Air charter, leaving at 6.30am. The new terminal is double the size of the old: at 435.307[ft.sup.2] (40.440[m.sup.2]) it triples capacity from 1.2 million passengers to 3.5 million passengers per year. The old terminal will be taken over by Cargo Centre Billund, an arm of Billund Airport, Denmark's second largest international airport. Last year, Billund handled 1.6 million international travellers.
