Imada established Imada Wong Communications five years ago in Los Angeles and now has offices in San Francisco, Chicago and New York. ``It has become the nation's pre-eminent integrated communications firm dedicated exclusively to the Asian Pacific American market,'' explained Robert Berger, AAAPRA vice president, who nominated Imada for the award. ``Mr. Imada sets an example of professionalism for others in the field to follow.''
The Vision Award is AAAPRA's highest achievement that recognizes a demonstrated, long-standing dedication and commitment to the vision and principles embodied in the organization's mission.
The Horizon Awards recognize those who have exhibited outstanding professional excellence in their communication programs targeted to the Asian-American community. English- and Asian- language submissions were entered in the following categories: print and broadcast advertising, graphic design, public relations, government and public affairs, and nonprofit community programs.
This is the first year the Horizon Awards have been given. David Magdael, president of AAAPRA, said, ``The body of work targeted to the Asian market has reached a level of quality where it is appropriate to recognize the best of the best.''
AAAPRA, a nonprofit organization, was founded in January 1992 and is composed of professionals in advertising, public relations, marketing, communications and related industries from Southern California. The organization presents a variety of programs that provide a forum for networking and business development and lend professional expertise and resources to the Asian Pacific community. -0-
