Big win fails to save the Jambos; SCOTTISH PREMIERSHIP.

HEARTS were relegated, despite recording their biggest win of the season over PARTICK THISTLE.

St Mirren's victory over Motherwell sealed the Jambos' exit from the top division, despite the 4-2 success at Firhill.

Partick took the lead through Kris Doolan, before goals from Dale Carrick and Billy King either side of half-time put Hearts in front.

Ryan Stevenson then hit a fine double to put the seal on a great win despite a late consolation from Jordan McMillan.

CELTIC showed why they are champions with a comfortable win over DUNDEE UNITED. Georgios Samaras gave the Hoops the lead with a well-taken volley, with Anthony Stokes adding a cracking second after 24 minutes as Neil Lennon's side dominated.

ST MIRREN climbed out of the relegation play-off spot after a dramatic win over MOTHERWELL.

Henri Anier and John Sutton handed the visitors a 2-0 lead, but Steven Thompson reduced the deficit before the break.

The Buddies then scored two goals in the last four minutes through a Kenny McLean penalty and another Thompson strike to snatch the points.

Frazer Wright and Steven Anderson both hit first-half goals as ST JOHNSTONE beat KILMARNOCK, after Robbie Muirhead had opened the scoring.
