Big stink over new Rose rules.

THE entire Galway Rose Committee has resigned in protest against new regulations being enforced by those running this year's Rose of Tralee.

Galway organising secretary Patsy Conway says the new system demeans the event and he has stepped down along with the other committee members, saying it has become too profit orientated.

The former Galway Rose Committee say the new structure militates against community groups who used the selections for fund-raising.

"We were spoken to like paid employees. Everyone involved for the past 30 years has done so on a voluntary basis. Everything has been taken out of our control," said Mr Conway.
