Bibogee Group of Companies.

Bibojee Service (Pvt.) Ltd., was incorporated in September 1961 to act as Managing Agents and Trustees. Since then the company has grown into an international business house specializing in turn-key projects, rehabilitation of |sick' projects, joint ventures, international trade, financial management, inspection and maintenance. The World Bank and other International Financial Institutions have repeatedly shown confidence in the business ability and expertise of Bibojee Services (Pvt.) Ltd., by selecting them for projects in Pakistan and abroad.

Ghandhara Nissan

Diesel Limited:

(a) The Company was founded by Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M. Habibullah Khan Khattak in 1985 with the joint venture of Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Tokyo, Japan and Tomen Corporation, Tokyo, Japan.

(b) Equity holding is as follows-

(c) Lt. Gen. (Retd.) M. Habibullah Khan Khattak is the Chairman of Ghandhara Nissan Diesel Ltd., and is a prominent entrepreneur and industrialist of the country.

(d) The company owns and operates the most modern Truck/Bus Manufacturing plant at Port Qasim Road, Karachi. It is currently producing heavy duty commercial vehicles with 35 per cent of the components manufactured locally. The local contents is being raised further in line with the Deletion Programme approved by the Ministry of Industries, Government of Pakistan.

(e) Under the Technical Assistance Agreement with Nissan Diesel Motor Co., Japan, a comprehensive transfer of technology is being accomplished in the assembly as well as in the manufacture of local components for heavy duty commercial vehicles.

(f) The Company's current overall personnel strength of 245 is divided into 85 Management staff and 160 Non-Management employees.

(g) The manufacturing capacity of the Plant is 1500 Trucks/Bus Chassis annually on a single shift basis. The productivity can be further raised by operating second and third shifts.

General Tyre & Rubber

Company of Pakistan

(GTR) was established in 1963 as a private limited company. The initial production capacity in 1964 was 150,000 tyres per annum which was increased to 600,000 tyres per annum in 1985. In 1977 majority shareholding was acquired by Pakistani shareholders from General Tire, USA, and in 1982, GTR was converted into a public limited company. Paid-up capital is around Rs. 52 million and the major shareholders are Bibojee Services Limited, Pak Kuwait Investment Company, National Investment Trust and General Tire, USA. Lt. Gen (Retd.) M. Habibullah Khan Khattak is Chairman of the board of directors and the company is run by a professional team of managers. The company's plant is located at Landhi, Karachi, and has modern machinery and equipment. Tyre technology is provided by General Tire, USA, under a technical service Agreement. General Tire, USA, was acquired by Continental AG of West Germany in 1987 and therefore GTR also gets technical assistant from Continental. GTR also has research and technology sharing agreements with Toyo and Yokohama of Japan. GTR manufactures tyres and tubes for cars, jeeps, vans, pickups, minibuses, buses, trucks and tractors. It also produces racing car tyres for the European market as well as radial tyres for local use.

Major customers of GTR include all vehicles assembly plants in Pakistan, Government transport fleets, and the armed forces. Race car tyres are exported to UK while car and truck tyres are exported to Iran, Afghanistan, Nepal and Bangladesh. GTR maintains four service centers in different cities to provide free technical service and guidance to its customers. GTR's technical and sales personnel also give on the spot service at dealer's premises.

Due to the presence of a highly qualified management and a motivated workforce, productivity is high. Regular training programmes help in improving the quality of output. GTR also contributes to community service by sponsoring social events and making large payments to the national exchequer in the form of duties and taxes.
