Beware the blood pressure 'bomb'.

PEOPLE who could have high blood pressure were today urged to have their levels checked for free.

The Blood Pressure Association (BPA) launches Know Your Numbers Week on Monday, with healthcare workers offering tests at official "Pressure Stations".

Data from last year's campaign revealed 30% of people monitored in Cardiff had high readings.

BPA executive director Mike Rich said: "To raise awareness during this year's campaign we are asking: 'Are you at risk fromthe ticking time bomb?'.

"That's because uncontrolled high blood pressure is like a hidden time bomb which can cause stroke, heart attack and heart failure."
