Bevan's ALBUMS OF THE WEEK.

CHRIS NORMAN: DON'T KNOCK THE ROCK (SOLO SOUND) Chris Norman is best known as lead singer with super successful Seventies band Smokie, who had 11 top 20 hits in the UK between 1975 and 1978. Top tenners included If You Think You Know How To Love Me, Don't Play Your Rock'n'Roll To Me, Living Next Door To Alice, It's Your Life and Oh Carol.

But for many years now Yorkshireman Chris has been pursuing a solo recording and touring career, being particularly popular on the Continent and in Eastern Europe, where he regularly plays to massive audiences.

This latest solo album is a real cracker, with a lovely mix of rock, pop, rockabilly, rock'n'roll and ballads. Stand out songs, all self written, include Crawling Up The Wall, Sun Is Rising, Loving You, If We Had Wings, Resurrection, Chasing After Starlight and Straight To My Heart.

Chris was one of the great rock voices of the Seventies and still one of the great rock voices of today.

ALBERT CASTIGLIA: UP ALL NIGHT (RUF) Released in 2017, Up All Night finds Albert in a creative swagger after last year's Big Dog album. What wasn't broke then hasn't been fixed now, with the bluesman once again recording at Dockside Studios in Louisiana, and capturing a warts and all mix alongside producer Mike Zito.

Born in 1969 in New York, before moving to Florida aged five, he made his professional debut in 1990 with Miami Blues Authority, but hit the international radar when Junior Wells invited him into his band for several world tours.

Castiglia's solo career began with 2002's Burn, followed by albums A Stone's Throw, Keeping On and Living The Dream. This latest release features Albert Castiglia on guitar and vocals, Jimmy Pritchard on bass and Brian Menedez on drums plus additional musicians Mike Zito on guitar and vocals, Lewis Stephens on keyboards, Sonny Landreth on slide guitar and Johnny Sansone on harmonica.
