Betty Mifflin of Du Quoin.

DU QUOIN -- Betty Lou Mifflin, 85, of Du Quoin, passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the Fairview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Du Quoin.

Betty worked at a secretary for R&H Steel and Du Quoin Iron. She was of the Baptist faith. Betty was a member of TOPS and a former member of the Du Quoin Junior Women's Club.

She was born July 24, 1933 in Tamaroa, the daughter of Virgil and Bessie (Rainwater) Walker.

She married Donald R. Mifflin on April 14, 1951 at the Old Du Quoin Baptist Church in Du Quoin and he survives.

She is also survived by one daughter, Suzanne (Steve) McCrary of Du Quoin; one granddaughter, Meagan (James) Feger of Castle Rock, Colorado; two great-granddaughters, Abigail Feger and Hannah Feger, both of Castle Rock; and one brother, Edward Walker of Sparta.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Lola Mae Pundsack and Marie Preston.

Graveside services will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 24 at the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, with the Rev. Ted Clark officiating.

Those attending the service are asked to go directly to the cemetery.

Friends may make memorials to the American Diabetes Foundation. They will be accepted at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin, which is in charge of arrangements.
