RTP Co., Winona, Minn., has formulated a pair of TPE families for stronger bonding to various engineering thermoplastics in hard/soft overmolding. The company won't identify the resin types used in RTP 6002 and 6003 compounds, characterizing them only as "functionalized" TPEs that adhere strongly in two-shot molding or overmolding. Both families are available in 45, 55, and 75 Shore A hardnesses in a density range of 0.96 to 1.04 g/cc. RTP 6002 compounds are optimized for adhesion to PC, ABS, and PC/ABS.
