Better disburse Fitrana before Eid: scholars.
SUKKUR -- Religious scholars have advised the faithfuls to disburse Sadqa-e-Fitr (Fitrana) among the poor before Eid-ul-Fitr so that those in need of money can also celebrate the festival.
The most deserving people for Sadqa-e-Fitr are close relatives followed by neighbours and the poor, said Mufti Rizwan Ahmed in a statement on Monday.
Explaining Fitrana, he said it shell be paid one or two days before "Eid prayer", so that the poor could do Eid shopping as well.
Head of a family should pay the Fitrana on behalf of all those under his care, such as his wife and children, he added.
He pointed out that according to Hadith-Bukhari, the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Whoever gives it before the Eid prayer, it is accepted Zakaah (Fitrana) , and whoever gives it after the prayer, it is a kind of charity".
According to the market price of 2.25 kilograms of flour, the amount for Fitrana has been calculated at Rs 100.
The faithfuls can pay Fitrana equal to the price of barley, Khajoor (dates) and Kishmish should pay Rs 200, Rs 1,120 and Rs 2,200 for each family member respectively.
