Betfair Jackpot case unresolved.

BETFAIR were yesterday still dealing with customers whose Tote Jackpot bets were not included in last Friday''s record pool at Newmarket, owing to technical issues caused by the unprecedented levels of betting, writes Graham Dench.

Nick Bradley, whose pounds 12,000 stake should have returned a profit of pounds 4,610, was hoping for a resolution yesterday evening, but it is understood that the problem affected more customers than was initially reported, including three who believe their perms would each have profited by around pounds 80,000.

Betfair confirmed that while money comes out of accounts at the time of bet placement, it then goes into a 'pending pool' and when bet placement fails it is returned to accounts.

At no stage, they insist, were any of the bets in question officially confirmed, and a warning there was a problem was posted on the Betfair forum in the afternoon. Some customers were called directly to be told that their bets were not on.

In a statement Betfair said: "Our technical teams are working with the Tote to address the issues."
