GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Bestselling author Philip Yancey has signed a contract for his next major book release with his long- term publishing partner, Zondervan.

Yancey, author of bestselling titles such as What's So Amazing about Grace? and The Jesus I Never Knew, will explore the topic of prayer in his new book slated to release in fall 2006. This book will mark the 18th Yancey title Zondervan has published during their nearly 30-year partnership.

"Philip Yancey is a gifted writer and clearly one of Zondervan's bestselling and best-read authors," said Scott Bolinder, executive vice president and publisher of Zondervan. "I'm confident that loyal Yancey readers and new ones alike will fall in love with this new book in which Philip will tackle the weighty and sometimes puzzling topic of prayer. We are extremely excited that he will continue to be a key author in our publishing family."

Yancey's books have sold more than 14 million copies since he was first published in 1977. His books have been translated into 25 languages and have been distributed worldwide. Many of his books have won prestigious awards from organizations such as Christianity Today and the Evangelical Christian Publisher's Association (ECPA) including ECPA's Kip Jordon Book of the Year award and 12 ECPA Gold Medallions.

"I'm very pleased to extend my publishing partnership with Zondervan and to continue to do work that I love," said Yancey. "Zondervan has been an extremely supportive partner over the years and I have no doubt that our relationship will continue to flourish into the future."

A former journalist and writer by vocation, Yancey spent many of his adult years in Chicago, writing for a wide variety of magazines, including Reader's Digest, Saturday Evening Post, National Wildlife and Christianity Today.
