Best regional live music venue Rent One Park in Marion.

Byline: JOHN HOMAN Managing Editor

MARION Rent One Park best known as the home of the Southern Illinois Miners has also been home to some exciting outdoor concerts since the stadium opened in 2007.

A few entertainers to take the outfield stage include: Jason Aldean, Kelly Pickler, Little Big Town, Nelly, Luke Combs, and most recently, Brantley Gilbert, Montgomery Gentry and Hunter Hayes.

Miners General Manager Cathy Perry said she believes location, parking and accessibility are about as important to the success of the concerts as the talent itself.

For those reasons and more, it's not surprising that readers have chosen Rent One Park in Marion as the premier venue to watch a live concert in Williamson and Jackson counties.

"Artists always comment on the hospitality and the ease of working," Perry said.

Apparently, fans like the accommodations too, based on crowds of 5,000-to-6,000 on several occasions.

Perry said the actual staging of the productions the last couple of years has been handled by concert promoters.

"Still, concerts mean many extra hours of work for our staff at Rent One Park," she said. "We have to employ temps for the event as the need is more than our current staffing can handle."

Now in its 13th season of operation, Rent One Park continues to be the best place in southern Illinois not only to watch an outdoor concert but any concert.
