Bespoke McLaren P1 pays homage to Senna.

THE P1 GTR is an awesome machine by any standard but one McLaren collector is now the proud owner of this striking, bespoke "Beco" model.

It was created by McLaren Special Operations to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the legendary Ayrton Senna securing his maiden Formula One World Championship.

It is liveried in the iconic colours of thensponsor Marlboro as they appeared on the MP4/4 that propelled the Brazilian racer to the first of three F1 titles.

Detailing includes various Senna hallmarks and the "Driven to Perfection" slogan dotted about the car, as well as his 1988 race number "12" on the nose. More than 800 hours was spent on painting the vehicle.

Meanwhile, aerodynamic upgrades, including a rear wing that echoes the look of the MP4/4 wing, have increased downforce to create a truly track-focused machine.

Unique engine modifications are complemented by a 24-carat gold heat shield and the owner says the result is a "suitably pleasing" increase in power to the hybrid set-up.

The interior features lashings of Alcantara along with more Senna design cues, including one of his quotes to get an enthusiastic driver in the appropriate mood.

The car, which was three years in the making, has been christened Beco by the owner - with the full blessing of the Senna family - in honour of the nickname given to Ayrton by his parents.

MSO boss Ansar Ali said: "This project has been a labour of love for us. With extensive engine and aerodynamic enhancements in addition to the distinctive cosmetic treatment this car has received, this is certainly a landmark achievement."
