Bertelsman appoints VP.

Peter Olson, president, Bertelsmann, Inc., announced the appointment of Christian Alpers to the newly created post of senior vice president. In his new position, Alpers will coordinate the leasing of approximately 400,000 square feet of retail and office space in Bertelsmann's new U.S. headquarters at 1540 Broadway in Manhattan.

Alpers, an MBA graduate of Stanford University, has been with Bertelsmann since 1985, and has previously worked with the company's Bertelsmann Music Group and Bantam Doubleday Dell Publishing U.S. divisions. Most recently Alpers was Vice President, Corporate Development for Bertelsmann, Inc., and prior to that he held various positions in strategic planning and operations.
