Bernstein on Adams' team.

MANCHESTER CITY chair-man David Bernstein has become a non-executive chairman of the Nuneaton-based chain Adams Childrenswear.

He holds the same post at Black Leisure Group and the Parisa Group.

The children's clothing group has also appointed Derek Lovelock a non- executive director. He is currently chief executive of the Oasis women's wear chain and was chief executive of Mothercare in the early 90s.

David Empson joins the chain as executive director for new business from Sainsbury's, where he was a departmental director.

He will be working to develop new business opportunities in Adams' core areas of sourcing and retailing.

Michael Hobbs, Adams' chief executive, said: "Appointing two such high calibre non-executives to our board puts us in great shape to continue with the successful development of Adams business.

"David's experience as chairman of a number of high profile, successful businesses puts us in a great position to develop further."
