ACCORDING to Glen Johnson - his team-mate at Stoke City - Saido Berahino 'had the wrong mentality, the wrong attitude from day one'.
Day one was January 20, 2017 - day one of a five-and-ahalf year deal worth around PS20million to the player.
Even though Berahino (right) has just been banned from driving for 30 months after an incident on a night ahead of what was supposed to be a working day, Stoke have had to give him a PS2.5m pay-off after conceding they could not sack him on the grounds of gross misconduct.
Fair enough because the only gross misconduct came from those - Mark Hughes at the forefront of them - who gave Berahino the deal in the first place.
The young man has had issues for some time. Handing him unimaginable, ill-deserved riches was never going to be any help.
